"...I
am so sick ofcleaning, washing clothes and nit picking...."
Subject: A typical case from start to finish.
Or, Does this sound familiar?
Original questions from a worried mum, Mary.
Hi! My 6 year old daughter was diagnosed with head lice in August.
I was horrified. I found out how and where she caught the lice,
from her best friend. This little girls mom was not the least bit
upset. But anyways here is my question. I have tried Rid as per
my Dr. recommendations.
Two weeks later I thought I saw another lice. I couldn't believe
after all the cleaning and nit picking etc. I took it to a friend
of mine at the local health board, sure enough it was lice.
He told me about the olive oil 3 week treatment. We finished that
last Wednesday.
What a pain. Well I see a couple nits again I am at the end of my
ropes.
I am so sick of cleaning, washing clothes and nit picking.
I am trying your product in hopes it will work.
Any helpful advice would be welcomed. I am so upset about the
lice I am having problems
sleeping etc. My girlfriends think I have gone overboard with cleaning
and am making
too much of it.
Please tell me what I am doing wrong.
She is the only one in the family so far that has them. So why
can't I get rid of them?
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Mary Safran
Our reply to Mary trying to help her find a solution to her problems.
First of all please, as much as possible, RELAX! You are going to
win this struggle. The comments about how hard you have found it
to get rid of these little beasties is very typical, you are not
alone.
Kids can suffer some terrible problems, but head lice are not one
of them. They may be yuck but they aren't harmful and yes you always
catch them from your best friend because thats who you snuggle
up to, share hugs with etc.
The friendship is worth a thousand times the problem of the cooties.
Don't kill yourself over the house cleaning, this is not, in the
main, how they spread. Just do your regular cleaning. Wash bed linen
on a normal cycle, that's fine. If the kids have hair brushes, hair
bands, slides, caps, hockey helmets etc that you can't wash, just
put them in a plastic bag and put them in the freezer overnight.
Now the positive stuff, NITMIX and the Almond Oil we supply are
very safe not only for kids, they won't even kill head lice! That's
how safe they are. We are going to REMOVE them, because thats's
what we want. We want them OFF, dead or alive doesn't matter, just
off will do fine.
The greatest problem with head lice treatments are the various
promises made that each will kill everthing in sight, everything
made easy, and it just doesn't work that way, if it did we wouldn't
be having this conversation.
When you describe repeated cases of head lice passed back and forth
between the kids it can only mean one thing, each case is not really
being cleared up and is flaring up again 2-3 weeks after the treatment
ends. This is most likely caused by a few eggs surviving, a few
head lice surviving or immediate re-infestation
from another head.
Talk of head lice being resistant to treatments is also common
but the scientific evidence is hard to find. It doesn't matter which
is explanation is true.
What is missing from the pesticide based solutions is a reliable
way of telling exactly what is going on in the hair. You can look
all you like but juvenile head lice, nymphs, are so tiny and varied
I have seen thousands of heads and I can't see them. So even if
you do everything correctly with a pesticide type solution it will
be almost impossible to know if you have succeeded.
What normally happens is that almost all the lice are killed but
a few survive or a few eggs hatch out and start the whole cycle
again.
You tend only to see the next generation of head lice about two
to three weeks later or when the kids start to scratch. A 2-3 week
gap is a sure sign that all was not cleared before.
Our approach works on the simple basis of making combing very very
effective at removing lice of all sizes but especially the tiniest.
We have found, over years of working with parents in the UK, that
to banish head lice the following is the best approach.
Use Nitmix in Sweet Almond oil according to the directions on the
enclosed form (50 drops to 100 mls), put sufficient of this mix
into each childs hair to coat it, and then go through systematically
with the head louse comb.
It helps if you wipe the combevery time it has been through the
hair. The large lice are easy to spot but look closely and you will
see that there are also tiny colored specks that are actually tiny
lice. These are your greatest enemy as they are too small to see
in the hair and they carry on to become your next generation of
head lice.
The effect of the almond oil and NITMIX is to help with the combing,
the blended oils trap head lice so they are unable to move about
the head throughout the combing part. After combing the head you
will need to wash your childs hair thoroughly.
The almond oil we supply is untreated and
washes out easily with ordinary family shampoo.
The Olive oil treatments( Vaseline, paraffin, etc etc) that try
to kill lice by smothering them are falling into the trap of the
" kill em off" approach.
You won't know if you have succeeded.
After shampooing out the almond oilput 2-3 drops of Nitmix into
a pint of water and rinse through as a final rinse, this will leave
at race of Nitmix in the hair, and a very slight aroma which is
not a problem for humans but is for head lice.
Head lice are highly specific and search out the natural aroma
of human heads, nothing else will do! We have found that head lice
appear not recognise heads with a trace of
Nitmix in as suitable places to feed and breed.
We believe that certain heads are more attractive to head lice
in the way that certain people are more attractive to mosquitoes,
and we believe that the trace of Nitmix in the hair acts as a repellent
or a deodorant and puts the head lice off.
This whole process needs to be repeated every few days until you
see no live lice. Even after the first application you will see
that any remaining lice are much fewer in number and smaller.
By taking head lice out every few days you are not giving recently
hatched ones the opportunity to lay eggs and so the cycle will eventually
grind to a halt.
Once the head is clear of head lice, then simply use Nitmix in
the final rinse water
every time you wash your childs hair, or put 10 drops in 125
ml of water in a spray bottle and spray your childs hair every
day before they go to school or out to play etc.
If this sounds hard work don't be put off, its actually quite straightforward
once you have done it once.
We have heard absolute horror stories of families struggling for
months and even years, they have all beaten head lice with just
the right little tricks, the right tools and a bit of encouragement.
I hope this addresses some of your concerns, my only other piece
of advice is to relax and have patience to work your way through
the treatment process. Good luck.
Reply from our client some months later,
Hi! I am sorry I never wrote back to let you know how satisfied
I was with this product
and the letter you sent to me. I was so freakd out by the fact my
daughter had lice, I forgot how important her friend (that she got
the lice from) was to her. You made me realise it was just lice,
there are many children with much worse things happening to them.
So with that advice I calmed down and was able to focus on getting
rid of the lice and with the help of your product was able to do
that.
I still check my daughter's friend's head as well as my own daughters,
so far so good
but if we do get lice again I will be able to handle it. I also
really liked the fact that I wasn't using a harsh chemical or pesticide
on my child's head.
Your product actually helped her dry scalp and made her hair very
soft. I am deeply grateful for all your help.
I really did need support during that time and you gave that to
me along with a great product.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Mary Safran
